Switchfoot Opera

"Are there any more tortillas?"

This was Emily at the movie theater asking France if there were any more tootsie rolls.

"Why are you hitting yourself?"

Emily said this after hitting France herself.
And then France had to run over there.

"And you know what's really great? When you said that my brain pictured one of my earplugs going up my nose."

Laying in bed in the dark one giggly night in Tucson, Francey said of the quoteboard, "We have to put up there that you always have a Simpson's reference."

"That reminds me of a simpson's episode..."

Em relates everything in life to the Simpsons.

"That looks good, except there's too many horse movies."

Em said this after an overly emotional horse preview.

Childhood

"unDEES!" "unDEES!"

"The swim tests are beginning now, so maybe you can play your mermaid game over there."

"Bluh."

"Oh my wuhd."

"They're not AHguing, Emily."

"Potty potty potty, flush!"

"I think we're alone now..."

"Francey, you're gonna float out to sea!"

"Peach pit popularity. Popularity peach pit."

"Moof moof and row row...Moof moof and row row..."

"We think she's cute because she's like us." "Yeah, disheveled and unpopular."

About the curly-haired girl in The Help.

Things haven't changed much from when we were kids...

...she still takes absolutely forever to get ready for bed.

"Do you do that to Jon?"

Our first day in Tucson, Josie was talking about how sometimes she rubs Mike Sr.'s shoulders and he does a little dance and says, "Woohoo!" Em took "shoulders" to mean "rear end," so she was a little taken aback when she was asked if she does that to Jon. Welcome to the family, Em!

"When I was over there I heard you guys talking about make haste and paste!"

No, Em, nobody was.

"Make haste and paste."

Mike, while watching Pride and Prejudice.

What does it say about Jerry?

No, France, that's "what does it say about Jesus."

Booya

What makes the rock formations keep up their balancing act in the mountains?
Emily: "The word of His power."
Frances: "There you go."
Emily: "Did you say "Booya?"

Mike's Debonair Manliness

Mike: Alright, I'll sacrifice and take you girls to the craft store.
France: Woo! I'm so in love with you!
Mike sauvely: We can go to Hobby Lobby, we can go to Wal-Mart, we can go to Hancock's.....

"Tomorrow."

Em: "Are we going to go to one church tomorrow or two?"
F: "Tomorrow."
F: "I've gotta go pee."

"She looks good for a midget."

We were stopped at a light and saw a woman.

"That was the topping on the muffin!"

Em's animated attempt to say "the icing on the cake" while we were talking about the idiocy of Anne of Greene Gables III.

"Well you can thank the little fairy."

Em's interpretation of...
Em: "Thanks for taking us out to eat!"
F: "Well you can thank the military."

"I'm glad you know what you want."

Em said in response to F passionately singing the word to I Need a Hero, but not knowing the character traits.

"He's gotta be hmm and he's gotta be hmm and he's gotta be hmm hmmmm..."

Cumberbunch, Bumberpatch, Bungercatch? True Bungles

Benedict Cumberpatch (the Sherlock Holmes actor)

Every time people ask me how you move your shoulders, this time do it.

-Beto "Spread the Love" Zumba

Hamstring Bumcraft

Another fever-induced variation of Sherlock Holmes;
Hamlock Buttcrack
Headlock Bumcrap

We Should Watch another Hamstring

....I mean, we should watch another Hamlock. I mean, a Sherlock.
-Michael when groggy from a cold

Juan David Oskin de los Gatos

Somehow the mortgage lender marked Jonathan as hispanic on the application.....his new name given by Michael.

We Stopped for a Snack on the Way...

A Thomas Sowell Monday

After reading two chapters of Ever Wonder Why? ...
Mike: "I wish I had learned how to think for myself when I was in school."
Em: "Schools don't teach kids how to think, they teach them what to think."
Mike: "Emily for president!"

Just a spoonful of chartreuse helps the vodka go down in the most delightful way.

A collaborative effort...this evening we enjoyed the hamburgers the boys grilled for supper and we were sitting on the porch chatting about mixed drinks. Jonny remarked that he seldom likes vodka drinks, unless it's accompanied with chartreuse.

Em's Interpretations

France: "Slip trip and fall."
Em: "Slippin' chicken?"

Good food comes to those who wait for their wives to cook it.

Jonny, during our yummy 2011 Mothers' Day tea that E and F prepared.

A moment with Jon and Em

Em, in response to great political illogic: "What were they drinking?...er, what were they eating?..."

Jon: "You mean what were they smoking?"

Indians gonna make some Emily food.

Jonathan.

Mofofo Pofavo

More for four, please.

It was my Kneee!!!

In response to Em's quandry about a little wet spot where France had been sitting indian-style on a warm day...

Broccoli Valentine

Another of Em's mis-interpretations... One night Jon and Em and Dre were over for supper, and I said to Dre, "Dre, the dressing on this salad is what I put on the broccoli that one time." And Emily asked, "Oh - what's Broccoli Valentine?" the rest of us laughed for a long time, and when we were finally able to tell her what I had actually said, she almost spit out her food.

Emily's Interpretations

"Candle Blessings."
"Camel blessings?"

"An almond cookie."
"An omelette cookie?"

"That's a good scene."
"That's a good sing?"
